Celebrating Cultures, Promoting Integration
Off the beaten track, down a little laneway, snuggled up with its own little leafy outdoor courtyard is one of the best cafes in Dublin. Let me take you on a visual tour to the Cake Café.
You take a right off Camden St. onto Grantham St. Then take the next right, onto Pleasant Place. From here you can see the little sign, a beacon of delicious food.
Here you peek into the courtyard, a suntrap that offers respite from the bustling city beyond.
Inside the café itself, you will be greeted by delicious treats and a colourful interior. The staff are eternally chirpy and pleasant (maybe that’s why they have the café on Pleasant Place!) and are really helpful with anything you could want.
There is also a delicious selection of cakes on display that vary from day to day, so you can try a different one each time you visit!
How cute are these cookies for Halloween?!
Open from 9-6, stop off for coffee and cake on your way to work, or pop in for prosecco and a bite before you head home. The Cake Café prides itself on not having a microwave or freezer on the premises, so you know you’re getting the freshest food and they support local businesses by using Irish produce. AND they are environmentally conscious, using rainwater in their toilet plumbing (yay!).
There is more to this café than what meets the eye. They have an online shop selling merchandise, their own cookbook. With a beautifully quirky design, it’s filled with recipes you know are going to be delicious (you can order it here). They also make cakes for birthdays, christenings and even weddings, which can be delivered throughout the Dublin area. Check out the flavours and pictures of the cakes (the summer berry nude cake looks beyond gorgeous). They are very helpful when it comes to ordering cakes, and if you have any requests or modifications don’t hesitate to ask!
