Celebrating Cultures, Promoting Integration
Conor McGregor has tweeted that he is returning to the lineup for UFC 200.
McGregor was due to fight Nate Diaz in a rematch in Las Vegas in July, but did not want to take part in promotional events leading up to the fight. He tweeted last Tuesday that he had “decided to retire young”, but in a later statement said he had not retired and still wanted to fight Diaz.
UFC boss White, however, ruled the Dubliner out of the event in a press conference on Friday. He said: “Anybody who has fought for the UFC over the last 16 years knows that we try to give as much leeway as we can on things. But you have to show up to promote the fight. You have to show up to press conferences and shoot the commercials. It’s part of the job. It’s what we do here.”
Monday’s tweet appeared to give White credit for returning him to the fight card: “Happy to announce that I am BACK on UFC 200! Shout out to @danawhite and @lorenzofertitta on getting this one done for the fans. #Respect.”
There has been no official confirmation from the UFC.
