The European data and computational journalism conference will be taking place in University College Dublin on Thursday, July 6th and Friday, July 7th. The conference aims to bring together industry professionals, practitioners, and academics in the field of journalism and news production and information, data, social and computer sciences, facilitating a multidisciplinary discussion on these topics in order to advance research and practice in the broad area of Data and Computational Journalism.
This event is being jointly organised by Bahareh Heravi, Assistant Professor in the School of Information and Communication Studies at University College Dublin, where she is the the Postgraduate Director and the Director of the newly found Data Journalism certification programme, commencing in September 2017, Glyn Mottershead – former newspaper reporter, feature writer, sub-editor and production journalist, Martin Chorley – lecturer in the School of Computer Science & Informatics at Cardiff University.
The conference will present a mix of academic talks and keynotes from industry leaders. On the second day of the conference, a half-day ‘Introduction to Data Journalism’ workshop and the ‘Computational and Data Journalism Unconference’ is also being organised which could be beneficial for you if you are looking forward to build a career in Data Journalism or if you are a starter in the field, go ahead and attend the conference to get some brilliant tips and tricks from industry professional.
