Celebrating Cultures, Promoting Integration
A show dedicated to the Irish Reggae and Ska scene. Spanning six decades of music, from Zebra’s first release in 1979 on the famous Good Vibrations label (their one and only release came with the statement on the 12” “Ireland’s Only Reggae Group”, which wasn’t far from the truth) through the slow and steady build up of reggae and ska releases in Ireland over the coming years, and up to the latest quality releases from the 20’s. I’ll also be playing artists that have visited these shores, including Bob Marley who played in 1980, and tracks from regular visitors such as Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry and Madness. I’ll be digging deep into the history and stories behind bands, DJs, Sound Systems, venues, and festivals that we had the pleasure to witness over the years.
