Celebrating Cultures, Promoting Integration
Today we’re featuring some events on this Halloween for everyone.
Tales from the Shadows: Gothic Tales
There is a mysterious, otherworldly event taking place at Marsh’s library beside St Patrick’s Cathedral on the 29th of October from 2-6. March’s library would have seen Bram Stoker pass through its doors countless times. Bram Stoker met a Hungarian writer & traveler Ármin Vámbéry who inspired the gothic twist on his novel Dracula with stories from the Carpathian Mountains. He then spent several years researching European folklore and Vampire myths, before writing his novel. He probably spent a lot of time in this library!
You are now invited to a shadow puppet show at the perfectly creepy setting in the historic library. Tales from the Shadows: Gothic Tales is a beautiful shadow puppet show including some creepy creatures such as vampires, goblins and ghosts. Fancy dress is encouraged, with prizes for the best costumes! This event is suitable for all ages.
Solus Street Art
For those artists among you, get ready for a really unique experience with Solus Street Art. You get the chance to paint some notoriously villainous characters with street artist Solus in areas around Smithfield and Stoneybatter. On Halloween night after the masterpieces have been completed, they will be put together and displayed on Smithfield Square. You are invited to join starting from 7pm.
This is a free event part of the Bram Stoker Festival.
Dracula’s Disco invites all ghosts, zombies and ghouls over the age of 5 to come along a dance! It’ll be taking place at The Ark on Eustace St. from 11:30am – 2pm on the 31st. This is the best event to get you in the trick-or-treating mood! Fancy dress is definitely necessary! If you get tired from all the dancing, there is a chill out area where you can hear some spooky tales. This event is free.
Come back tomorrow for the next Halloween event! And keep and eye out for child friendly tags at the end of our events articles to see what else is on for kids this Halloween. See Friday’s event here.
