Celebrating Cultures, Promoting Integration
Cork City has just got a brand new gelato shop that is most definitely worth a visit. Casanova Gelato can be found on 13 George’s Quay, in Cork City. They opened their doors officially on the 14th of October.
What’s the difference between gelato and ice cream? There is a very clever infographic on their website explaining the difference! Gelato has less fat, and uses a mixture of milk and cream (as opposed to just cream in ice cream). It’s smoother and fresher than ice cream, with an intense flavour.
Beamish and chocolate flavoured gelato
So Casanova opened in Cork to spread a most wonderful vision – to make real delicious Italian gelato without the artificial colours or flavours, emulsifiers or palm oil. This makes it probably the healthiest gelato you’ll get in Cork! They only use organic Irish milk, local fruit, real chocolate and the best Italian nuts. Their gelato is made fresh in store everyday (both a blessing and a curse – power outages and problems with fridges threatened their supplies!) meaning we are getting the best flavours everyday. They survived the setbacks to open their doors on Friday the 14th with the Mayor of Cork attending the official ribbon cutting ceremony.
Casanova want everyone to be able to enjoy their gelato – even if you’re vegan or have a dairy intolerance! They offer vegan and dairy free gelato – head to the shop to see what flavours they have! Their best sellers include double chocolate and almond caramel. They also sell waffles, Italian organic coffee, crepes and milkshakes.
Casanova Gelato adds to the growing list of amazing ice cream in Ireland – if you have any other suggestions, leave me a comment!
